At present there is limitation in GINESYS that there are only 6 categories. Thus currently we are using Description field to manage our requirement to capture more item related attribute information for future reporting and analysis.
However in implementing so we can see that user can enter anything without any control & this in-turn is hampering our mis reporting.
Thus there needs to be a proper solution to it, which can be either of the following:
- Introduce more categories say 5-10 .
- Introduce profile based restriction that user have to select the data from already entered information in the given description field.
Once this categories are introduced need reflection in the following:
1- OLAP reporting
2- Promotion Assortment Master
3- Adreno Assortment definition

Dear Sir,
We will be implementing the feature of Article wise Category/Description mapping against idea #BO-I-105. This will allow you to limit the category/descriptions article wise and user will not be able to enter them explicitly while creating items. Basically, it will act as a master of description fields as well as helping you to avoid planning/MIS reporting issues.
Thus we are merging this issue with that idea for your future reference.
