Extinct Barcode reflected in POS Scan Item Merged

Hi

we are in Sports Retail field.90% product we can paste the barcode, remaining 10% products are small and can't paste the barcode, that product we can only remember the numbers.

Extinct items are not available at the store physically. But some items are not possible to paste the barcode sticker(example Balls, cycle brake pads, brake cables etc...).Sometimes they forget to enter the Extinct barcode. if we type or scan the extinct barcodes in item scan column it will be reflected. Same item purchased by different types of vendors in different price. So We created barcode1 and barcode2 due to different price. barcode1 is extinct due to vendor-unavailable, now we have the barcode2 product only, If Someone forgot to type the barcode1. Who will lose the amount?(example difference is Rs.500)

As per our record we have 8000 barcode. but we used only 5000 barcodes of product. Remaining are discontinued products.

i think this extinct barcode scan reflected on after the updation. before this update extinct product not reflected the scan and search option.

the update version is

HO Version:12.4.3

POS Verson:2.4.2

I talk with our Account Manager, He said this scanner reflected for return purpose. but our Return process only 1 or 2% from pos bill. As per our policy return against bill.

i think extinct is used to hide the barcode in the level of the store. But all barcodes are reflected in the POS bill, What is the usage of extinct?. How to control the discontinue products?

If any Doubts Please call me

Thanks

Once you extinct an item, the item is stopped from showing in the searchable provisions. We allow scanning of extinct items for the following purposes:

    1. You might have stock in hand which if restricted from scanning will disallow the sale.

    2. If you don't have stock, on scanning the same the system will throw negative stock alert.

    3. In case you are getting return, you will be able to scan the same.

The aforementioned pointers are the reason for allowing scan.

However, I understand that you want complete blockage of in/out of such items once marked extinct. For that, we would need break this "Extinct" into multiple process oriented fields in Item master like "Allow Sale", "Allow Return" etc. We are keeping this idea open for further votes and if enough votes are gathered, we will definitely take this up.
